* You might need resistors and/or electronic flasher relay

Q: What is a resistor and why is it used for?

A: The resistor is an electrical storage device which transforms the LED's Ohm resistance to the Ohm
resistance of the bulb. Almost all bikes with conventional turn signals (bulb) often encounter the problem
of a faster flash rate when switching to after market LED turn signals. The solution to this inherent problem is the
use of resistors or electronic flasher relay which will switch the flash rate back to normal.

Q: How do I know if I need resistors in order to fit LED turn signals on my motorcycle?

A: If your bike's factory turn signals have lamps and not LEDs you will probably have to use resistors in order to fix the
fast flash rate. Most bike models before 2010 have bulb turn signals while most bike models after 2010 have LED turn signals.
In case that your bike's factory turn signals are LED operated you won't need any resistors.

Q: What kind of resistor should I select?

A: There are two kinds of resistors: 21W/9.8 Ohm and 10W/21.5 Ohm. Select the 21W resistor when going from a 21W
turn signal to a LED turn signal. Select the 10W resistor when going from a 10W turn signal to a LED turn signal.

Q: How do I know whether my turn signals have a 21W or a 10W lamp?

A: Most Kawasaki, Suzuki and some old Honda models (i.e. Africa Twin) have 21W turn signals while most BMW, Ducati,
Yamaha, KTM models have 10W turn signals. In any case you can make sure by opening a turn signal lens and removing
the bulb. The Watt power is mentioned on the bulb.

Q: How do I connect the resistor to the LED turn signal?

A: The resistor has to be inserted between the LED turn signal's wires and the bike's wiring.

Q: If I select the 10W resistor, do I need one resistor for each turn signal?

A: Yes, you will need one resistor for each turn signal. The 10W resistors are sold in pair.

Q: If I select the 21W resistor, do I need one resistor for each turn signal?

A: No, you will need one resistor for each bike's side. For example, the front left and the rear left turn signals are
operating with the same resistor. It is indifferent whether the resistor will be fitted to the front or rear turn signal.
The 21W resistor is sold in piece.

Q: What is an electronic flasher relay?

A: The electronic flasher relay is a device which replaces the factory flasher relay and is compatible with LEDs. In some bikes
you can fix the fast flash rate by replacing the factory flasher relay with the electronic one. In this case you won't need any resistors.
The electronic flasher relay has 3 pins and will fit all bikes which have a factory flasher relay with 2 or 3 pins.

NOTE: All mentioned above are general rules of how resistors operate. However there have been cases in which the LED turn
signals have operated normally without the use of resistors or flasher while in other cases the combination of both resistors
and electronic flasher relay was required.

Summarizing, ONLY after installing LED turn signals on your bike and they do not light up at all, they are very dim, they flash very
slow or very fast, its 100% sure that you need resistors and/or electronic flasher relay.

* We use Barracuda's 10W & 21W resistors and Koso's electronic flasher relay.
